What’s the History of Mindshare LA?

Mindshare LA started in Los Angeles in March 2006 at the Brewery Artists Lofts near downtown. Since then it has become a mecca for thousands of intellectuals, artists, scientists, media professionals, social entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other forward-facing characters to meet, broaden their perspectives and expand their circle of connections. The evenings are generally centered around a curated program of short talks and performances that prvide a bridge between people with different skills & knowledge. We’ve hosted hundreds of events that combine inspiration and interaction, creating unique in person gatherings where interesting and unexpected things can happen. We frequently team up with partners as well as offering experience consultation services to clients who are aligned with our values.

Dougie Campbell

Curator & Co-Producer

Mindshare LA is the  brainchild of community organizer, cultural curator and experience designer Douglas Campbell (left), Mindshare LA has grown from a monthly gathering Campbell held in his loft at the Brewery Artist Lofts in 2006 to become a cultural institution among academic and artistic people looking to get inspired and meet new people. Each year thousands of “Mindsharians” attend  salons, workshops, screenings and cultural excursions around Los Angeles.

From the start Dougie saw the power of technology to augment social interaction and began forming an interactive collective called Mindshare Labs which was eventually spun off and incorporated as Syyn Labs in 2009, gaining quick notoriety for its RGM music video collaboration with OK Go. After handing over Syyn Labs to refocus on events an in person experiences, he began consulting for coworking spaces, including Cross Campus which has growing network of collaborative workspaces in which he continues to host Mindshare and other inspiring events.
